On October 25, the People’s Committee of Binh Duong organized the Launching Ceremony of Combat against Plastic Waste and awarded the 2019 Environmental Award with the participation of representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Binh Duong Province, Binh Duong Provincial People’s Council, Department of Natural Resources and Environment and individuals, organizations, communities won the Award with a large number of youth union members of Binh Duong.

Spoken at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hong Nguyen – Deputy Director of Binh Duong Department of Natural Resources and Environment said: “ In Vietnam, to reduce and combat plastic waste pollution, the Government issued Resolution No. 50 / NQ-CP dated July 15, 2019 and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment issued Official Letter No. 5539 dated October 10, 2018, launching the movement “Against plastic waste”.
“In Binh Duong, in order to organize the implementation of the prevention, reduction and prevention of plastic waste pollution in the province, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Binh Duong also advised the People’s Committee of Binh Duong province to issue a Plan No. 4950 days. Today, authorized by Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee, Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Binh Duong organized the launching ceremony of plastic waste reduction movement in Binh Duong with the following main contents:
Do not use disposable plastic products; restrict and gradually replace the use of disposable bottled water in offices and conferences and seminars; switch to using large volumes of water bottles, or make your own; do not use plastic cups, plastic straws … single-use, replace plastic utensils with utensils made of other materials easily biodegradable, environmentally friendly.
Enterprises, supermarkets, markets and trade centers use environmentally friendly materials to replace single-use plastic products and difficult-to-biodegrade plastic bags. At the same time, there are ways to encourage consumers to carry bags when shopping, restricting or not giving away free plastic bags to consumers.

Binh Duong also strengthened education to raise awareness about the harmful effects of plastic waste and plastic bags on socio-economic, environment and human health; focus on integrating educational content about the harmful effects of plastic waste and plastic bags which are difficult to decompose to the environment, guide the classification of waste at source, restrict the use of disposable plastic products into teaching at all levels.
At the same time, promoting the pilot program of waste separation at source and replicating to other places in Binh Duong; increasing investment in technology and equipment to increase the rate of recycling plastic bags from daily-life solid waste and restricting burial; strengthen inspection and examination of environmental protection of enterprises engaged in waste collection and treatment, recycling of scrap; strictly handle violations.

In particular, according to Mr. Nguyen Hong Nguyen, everyone can participate actively to protect the environment, reduce, and fight plastic waste by doing very simple things such as: not using disposable plastic items; segregation, recycling, reuse of waste, especially plastic waste, economical use of fuel; participate in environmental sanitation activities around the family, agencies and streets.
Besides, planting more trees; propagandize and mobilize all people in the family, agencies and communities to consciously protect the environment and minimize the use of plastic waste. At the same time, condemn the acts that cause environmental pollution, the habit of using disposable plastic items or the waste of resources and energy…
Mr. Nguyen Hong Nguyen also believed that with the solidarity and unity of actions of all branches, levels, communities, businesses and people in Binh Duong, the movements and plans ” Preventing plastic waste” in Binh Duong in particular and environmental protection of Binh Duong will be more effective and more successful.

Spoken in response to the movement against plastic waste, Mr. Sagawa Tsutomu – General Manager of AEON MALL Binh Duong Canary said: “To contribute to reducing plastic waste and sorting waste at source, we have had useful activities to customers through the trash chain used to store each type of waste separately. We also encourage all AEON MALL employees and customers to use less plastic bags and disposable plastic products. It can be replaced by eco-products or eco-friendly products. ”
