On the afternoon of September 22nd, in Bình Dương, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Bình Dương Province, in collaboration with the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, held the opening ceremony of the 2024 National Muay Championship, featuring nearly 400 athletes from 29 provinces and cities.
The 2024 National Muay Championship serves as a valuable platform for athletes across the country to exchange training experiences and improve their competitive skills. It also provides an opportunity to assess the athletes' technical and tactical levels, identifying and selecting outstanding talents for the national team to prepare for upcoming international and continental tournaments. In addition, the championship aims to evaluate and enhance the performance of officials, coaches, and referees in organizing and managing competitions.
This year’s championship has attracted 29 teams with nearly 400 high-quality athletes, all with impressive records from provinces and cities with strong Muay traditions, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Bình Dương, Thanh Hóa, Vũng Tàu, and Bình Phước. The athletes will compete in a knockout format for both male and female divisions, contending for 38 sets of medals across two age categories. The 15-17 age group will compete in 18 events (10 male, 8 female), while the 18-40 age group will compete in 20 events (12 male, 8 female).
Immediately following the opening ceremony, the athletes began the preliminary rounds. The championship will occur from September 22nd to September 29th, 2024, featuring intense and thrilling matches where top Muay fighters will showcase their skills and tactics.
